Special Programs

Visual Art (All): Students will experiment with drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Through hands-on projects, they’ll learn new techniques, study artists and art periods while developing their own creative voice.


Band Beginning (All): Students will choose instruments with the aid of the band director at the beginning of the year. They will be required to participate in school concerts/events/competitions both during the school day and after school.


Band Advanced (All): Students who have taken Band Beginning and want to continue in Band They will be required to participate in school concerts/events/competitions both during the school day and after school. The student level will be decided by Mr. Gallinal. He will also decide if an audition is required.


Chorus Beginning (All): Students will learn the fundamentals of music, sing a variety of repertoires, and learn how to read music. They will be required to participate in school concerts/events/competitions both during the school day and after school.


Chorus Advanced (All): Students who have taken Chorus and want to continue in Chorus. They will be required to participate in school concerts/events/competitions both during the school day and after school. The student level will be decided by Ms. Jock. She will also decide if an audition is required.


Wheel- Robotics / Coding (6th): This course allows the student to experience a semester of each course. In Coding the student will be introduced to computer science. In Robotics the student will be exposed to the engineering process.


Coding Fundamentals (7th & 8th): This course is to introduce the student to computer science, problem solving, programming, and data while inspiring students to build their own websites & apps.


Digital Discoveries (7th & 8th): For this 2nd year of coding, students must have taken Coding Fundamentals with a passing grade. Mrs. Mejia will approve all requests.


Robotics / STEM (7th & 8th): This full-year course focuses on robotics and the engineering process. Students will design, build, and program robots which will allow them to experience the engineering process firsthand.


Culinary Careers (All): Students will explore culinary as a career choice, focusing on food safety, interpreting recipes, menus, and prep.


Cambridge Global Perspectives (All): This is an academic elective where students will make connections between the curriculum, global awareness, and social issues surrounding the world. Students will participate in group projects, debates, and case studies, making them an active learner. This course will assist students in becoming productive contributors to society.


Debate 1 LH (8th only): Students will develop an understanding of each of the ten types of Debate by preparing for mock competitions. They will be required to compete in Debate competitions. High School Credit course.


Speech/Debate (6th & 7th): Students will develop an understanding of each of the ten types of Debate by preparing for mock competitions. They may attend competitions but are not required to do so.


Journalism (All): Students will work collaboratively to create segments, host, film, and plan the RMS Morning Show. Independent projects and group assignments are part of the broadcasting-journalism aims at producing the yearbook and morning show.


Orchestra Beginning & Advanced (All): Students will receive instruction in string techniques including proper posture, note reading, and ensemble techniques. They will be required to participate in school concerts/events/competitions both during the school day and after school.


Physical Education (All): Students will be provided with a foundation of knowledge, skills, and values necessary for the development of a physically active lifestyle through fitness activities and team sports.


Spanish 1 & 2 (7TH & 8TH Only): The student will engage in speaking, reading, listening, and writing activities to gain proficiency in the Spanish language. This is a High School Credit course.
